How to Play Calcudoku
Calcudoku is a mathematical puzzle that combines the logic of Sudoku with arithmetic operations.
Rules:
- Fill the grid with numbers 1 through the grid size (4×4 uses numbers 1-4, 6×6 uses 1-6, etc.)
- Each number must appear exactly once in each row and column
- Bold-lined cages contain a target number and an operation (+, -, ×, ÷)
- Numbers in each cage must combine using the given operation to produce the target number
- For subtraction and division, larger numbers are always used first
- Numbers can repeat within a cage (if they don't violate the row/column rule)
Examples:
- A cage marked "6+" means the numbers in that cage add up to 6
- A cage marked "2-" means the larger number minus the smaller number equals 2
- A cage marked "12×" means the numbers in that cage multiply to give 12
- A cage marked "2÷" means the larger number divided by the smaller number equals 2
Tips:
- Start with single-cell cages - they already tell you the value
- Look for cages with limited possible combinations
- Remember that numbers can't repeat in rows or columns
- Use pencil marks to track possible values for each cell
